Day 17 ~ Manchester Beach

Day 17 ~ Manchester Beach

We were using this day as a catch up day.  We were supposed to go to Walmart to restock on Sunday, but never found a Walmart.  We didn’t know that you could drive for 7 hours in any part of the United States and NOT find a Walmart!  Who knew?  We only need fresh fruit for now.  We have enough groceries to get by for a few days.

The crapbag here is that the camper is parked right on a big pile of dirt/dust.  It is really fine grain dust that is just making a mess out of everything.  It is hard to try to regroup and clean up when you are parked on a dust hill.  Plus the bathrooms are frightfully dirty.

The kids watched several episodes of Remington Steel this morning, while lounging in bed.  Mike did a load of laundry and dried it around the camper and in the camper, but the mist and fog is so heavy here that mostly we just ran the heater really hot and got it dried inside the tent.  I cleaned out the refrigerator/cooler and washed it out with hot soapy water.  I made spaghetti and meatballs for lunch.

Then we went to the beach via a little nature trail that links the campground to the ocean.

Wild Irises.....I think all irises are wild....

We call these "Lego Flowers." They are only about 1/4" in diameter.

Unfortunately, my foot with the broken bone (???) is hurting again very badly, so I hope that stops soon!!!!  This beach was a let down to Mike because it is cool and foggy here.  It hasn’t broken 59 degrees the whole time we have been camping in CA.  I think Mike was expecting surfers and volleyball, but we were the only ones here at this cool, foggy beach.  I loved it, and the kids had a great time.

Whoops!  Didn't mean to get wet!

Mike carried a piece of drift wood down to the beach for me to sit on, since my foot hurts.

Whether Natalie is in 3rd grade or 9th, she always goes home from the beach with a wet butt and an armful of treasures.

Last stop today was Point Arena Lighthouse.
On a Cliff

They should have turned on the light.....It was really foggy!

I made lunch and breakfast for tomorrow because we will be traveling to the San Francisco area tomorrow.  We will hopefully see the big castle/winery in Napa Valley.
