Day 18 ~
Only a 3 hour drive today!
We moved farther down the California coast to Napa Valley. We visited a winery/Tuscan Castle today. Wow. I
don’t know what else to say. We wanted
to visit a winery in Napa, but wanted a kid friendly one. This was perfect. What kid doesn’t want to see a real castle?!
I will let pictures tell the story…..
The Vineyard
The Moat
The Drawbridge is just under the Portcullis at the top of the Stairs
The Piazza
Upper Balcony
Dining Hall ~ Hand painted walls!
Castle Cat
Armor Room
Window for Shooting Arrows
Harrison Copy Catting Mike
Check out the design of the ceiling......All the ceilings in the castle are like this. All the brick was imported from Tuscany.
Napa Valley
White Wine Vats.....And the tour guide.
Red Wine
Rolling the Barrels
Really Good Grape Juice for the Minors
Wine Tasting for the Adults
We didn't bother with the hassle of buying wine because despite the awesomeness of the castle, our local wine is just as good or better. Don't get me wrong.....It was OK, it just wasn't fantastically different from what we have at home. We didn't have room for any souvenirs anyway! The cool experience was enough for us!
Tomorrow: San
Francisco
