Day 14 ~ Driving to Redmond, Oregon
Not much to tell today or even much to show in photos. We drove hard all day, leaving Spokane early
in the morning. According to Google it
should have been a 5-1/2 hour drive, but true to form it was more like 7.
We stopped at the library.
LOL. I was able to use my Nook to
download some library books at McDonalds.
One book that I downloaded was The Willoughbys. We listened to this for most of the day. It was fantastic. We laughed through many miles of Oregon
Territory.
I have also been reading some Nicholas Sparks books, Erma
Bombeck, and John Green’s An Abundance of Katherines. I wonder if my book clubby friends are
reading Dear Sugar. I am in Cheryl
Strayed’s neck of the woods! I think I saw her going into a gas station......
A few sights from the backseat:
Bridge in Washington
Bridge Over the Columbia River
Oregon
Much of Oregon Looks Like Home! See the Windmills?
Huge Big Mountain that we can see from the road in front of the KOA. Not sure which one of the Cascade Mountains it might be.......
We arrived at a nice KOA.
Had a simple dinner of chicken, baked potatoes, and oranges. We have to use up our citrus fruits before we
go through California’s border. My
brother in law told us we they would make us dump all our fruit when we crossed
the border. I find this crazy that it
would be true within the same country……However, I asked at the office tonight,
and they said that even though there were check points, you probably won’t have
to do it coming in from the North. We
shall see.
We also went swimming in this KOA’s excellent pool for a couple
of hours. And dear Michael even did 3
loads of laundry in between playing with the kids in the pool because it is so
sunny and windy. I was reluctant to do 3
loads because of the last time we attempted laundry……but everyone was super
nice here. The laundry is almost dry already! No big deal.
Tomorrow we plan to start early again and drive to Crater
Lake then on to Sunny California!!!!
